Remembering To Worship

We are now going to Bethel, where I will build an altar to the God who answered my prayers when I was in distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone. - Genesis 35:3

One area of my relationship with God that I want to improve on is my daily worship. Specifically, recognizing and praising the LORD for answers to my prayers and his faithfulness throughout my life.

Too often I spend all of my prayer time asking God to help my will to become reality and my present needs to be met. Rarely do I take time to simply worship the LORD for what he has done. Rarely do I take the time to journal how I have seen the LORD's will reign over my life and provide the solutions I need in my life.

I love how Jacob not only remembered the LORD but created an altar for the LORD - a memorial to help him remember a season of his life when he leaned on God in prayer and the LORD responded.  I need more reminders like this throughout my home, in my office, and even to wear on my self.

Simple reminders that point me to God's love, mercy, grace, and presence in my life. Reminders that God listens, considers his perfect will, and then enters my life - shows up - and provides for me. I may not like what his answer is, but today I am willing to surrender everything - every part of me - to the LORD's will, knowing that I can trust him.

Father, thank you for hearing the cries of my heart, the requests of my soul, and the needs of my human nature. I know that not all of them align with your will, but LORD, I praise you for listening. I trust you to help me align my heart to yours when I receive the answer to my prayers. Holy Spirit, call me into worship frequently for answered prayers and in remembrance of your presence in my life - during times of distress - during times of celebration - and just every day normal seasons. Jesus, help me to share the Good News of your presence in my life with others. Give me the courage to love, lead, and serve those that you bring before me today.

  • When you reflect on your life story, how has the LORD been faithful to you?
  • When was the last time you spent time in prayer and worship - thanking God for his faithfulness in your life?
  • How has God's presence in your life created opportunities for you to share the Good News with others?

Make it a great day!
