It Begins And Ends With Love

We love each other because he loved us first. - 1 John 4:19

Elohim, the Mighty God, created the world and everything in it for his glory and to allow us to experience the love of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Their unity and love was the greatest gift and act of love that could have been bestowed upon us. We were created to experience their love and bring them glory by loving others the way they love us.

Their love for us and the great love story continues even though we rebel, sin, murder, worship idols, and choose the world over our Creator. We fill our soul with temporal infatuation and feelings that drive us to despair and loss when these temporal objects of affection are gone. All the while we have a a great pursuer that seeks us with unfailing love, an everlasting love, a forgiving love that simply wants to draw us back to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The work of the cross was the defining moment in the history and story of love. The moment when God the Son died for our sins, repairing the broken relationship caused by rebellion, pride, and sin. The moment when the Trinity looked down upon us and said,

We created them out of love, we guide them out of love, and now we must die for them out of love so they can one day be with us eternally. So that they can learn to love each other - our creation - and help each other until we decide the end of age has arrived and the time for a new heaven and new earth filled perfectly with a reign of our love.

And, this is the day we put all of our hope in. The day when we will stand before our Father, our Savior, and our Counselor and become truly known for the first time. This is the day that drives our purpose in this age. The day that points us back to the garden, the covenant, the Passover, the exile, the restoration, the cross, and the resurrection.  Each of these events guides us on how we are to let love permeate every part of who we are, guide our actions and our conversations, and how we are to love our enemies, and fellow Christ followers.  Most importantly how we are to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Lord, thank you for your everlasting and unfailing love. Holy Spirit, help me to remember this love each day - help me to be patient and purposeful as I await your reign of love. Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross and providing us with the ultimate example of love. Help me to live by this example, Amen.

Questions To Consider:

  • What are the major moments in your life and leadership where you have experienced the unfailing love of God?
  • If love became a core conviction/value of your organization how would that impact your culture & service to others?
  • What opportunities exist right now for you to show up and engage someone in words and acts of love?

Make it a great day!
