This week my wife, Sarah, and I are headed to Sunriver, Oregon to attend the Building Champions Experience 2010. This will be our second year attending the conference. Last year we had a wonderful time meeting professionals from all over the United States. We listened to executive coaches, industry experts, and executive officers from companies share their insight into personal development, leadership, and life balance. I intend to write a post after each day on my key takeaways from the day's events. This year we have four goals while we are at the event.
1. Reflect on the past year's victories and challenges. With so much change and economic hardship affecting the industry I work in this will be a good opportunity to reflect on the blessings in my life and the faithfulness of God, friends, and family.
2. Connect with other professionals. People from many different industries will be attending the event this year giving us the opportunity to learn from each other and build relationships that can continue long after the event is over.
3. Plan for the year(s) ahead in our life and career. There is nothing better than putting your vision, dreams, and goals to paper and then watching them become a reality. The planning process is the first step towards us being purposeful and intentional, both personally and professionally, in all we do.
4. Unplug from work for a few days. We plan to use this time to have fun, renew our relationship, and take-in as much in as we can from those around us without the normal day to day distractions (No, kids you are not a distraction to us!).
I look forward to sharing with you the Building Champions Experience 2010.
Make it a great day!
