So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. - Romans 8:1
I think one of the most important lessons I have learned as a follower of Christ is that I while I am guilty of sin, I am not condemned for my sin. There is no escaping the fact that I struggle daily with sinful thoughts and these occasionally lead to sinful actions. Even the word "occasionally" is probably an attempt on my part to downplay the reality of how often I find myself on my knees asking for forgiveness because of something I've done.
Because of Christ's work on the cross and his resurrection, I do not have to face the eternal penalty for my sin. While I may still have to deal with the temporal consequences, there is no longer the threat of eternal condemnation because I am unable to be in the presence of a holy God.
God now sees me through Christ, I am at peace with God, and I can rejoice because there is no condemnation for me. I am a friend of God able to enter into his presence because of the transforming work of Christ that will one day be complete and I will be a glorious version of myself standing by my heavenly Father.
Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your son to pay the price for my sin and allowing me to have eternal peace in your presence free from sin.
