She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” - Genesis 16:13
The God who sees me, El Roi. What a beautiful name for our Father in heaven. As I ponder this name for God today, I cannot help but praise the LORD for the times where He has seen me, and others have not. Those times where even I cannot see my true self - where I forget that I am an image-bearer - a child of God.
In the midst of these types of seasons, where I clearly see and feel the effects of my sin, loneliness, and pain, I know that God sees me different, and brings His forgiveness, peace, and healing to my life. He sees past the chaos and confusion and meets me where I am at with in His perfect timing and his perfect love.
Father, thank you for seeing me and loving me. Thank you for seeing through the chaos of my life on this earth. Help me not to get caught up in wanting to control my destiny, my circumstances, and my relationships. Holy Spirit, in the midst of my confusion give me clarity. Show me the right path and help me to lean not on my own understanding. Jesus, give me your strength to make wise decisions and fight off temptation. Thank you for being the filter through which I am seen. Amen.
Questions To Consider
- Have you ever gone through a season where you felt completely alone?
- How have you seen God "show up" in your life when least expected it?
- How do you think God sees you right now? How does that compare to what the Bible teaches you about how God sees each of you?
Make it a great day!
